Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt made a smashing debut at the prestigious Met Gala 2023 in designer Prabal Gurung’s exquisite creation. She looked breathtakingly beautiful in a pearl-studded strappy corseted couture ball gown made with 100,000 pearls that featured a skirt bottom that flowed into a long trail. While she was posing on the red carpet, New York paparazzi mistook Alia to be Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. However, she handled the goof-up with grace and continued to smile and pose.
The video of Alia being addressed as Aishwarya at the fashion gala has gone viral on social media and it evoked mixed reactions. While fans of Alia defended her and slammed the foreign media, several netizens made hilarious jokes about the Raazi actress. In the video, we could see Alia walking up the stairs with the help of her team and posing for the paparazzi stationed there. Just when she entered the event with her designer Prabal Gurung, some of the shutterbugs got confused and addressed her as 'Aishwarya'. Interestingly, this reminded Indian fans of Indian paps wrongly pronouncing the names and misspelling some of Hollywood celebs' names at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre launch event. One user commented, “They are taking revenge for jhandeya and tommy.” Another said, “American paps taking their “yeh shakira hai kya” revenge.” One of the netizens mocked Alia and said, “oh no itni bestii.”
The Raazi actress shared a couple of her stunning pictures from the fashion gala and shared details about her look. In an Instagram post, Alia revealed that for her debut at Met Gala, she wanted to wear something that “felt authentic” and was proudly made in India. Besides Bhatt, other Indians shined at the gala were Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Isha Ambani, and Natasha Poonawalla.
